Maafushi Island is 25 km South of Male International Airport which takes 30 minutes by speed boat and 90 minutes by regular ferry.

Since the first guesthouse was opened in 2009 after the government regulations opened up local islands for tourism Maafushi has been economically thriving.

Tourists from neighboring resort islands also visit Maafushi for island hopping and Maafushi provides them with shopping opportunities with souvenir shops and cafes.

All guesthouses provide various excursions, including, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, water sports, and day trips to nearby islands.
